The Singapore Millennium Championships was conceived with the primary objective of putting Singapore on the world dancesport map. Dancesport has a long history in, and is part of the popular culture of, the European continent. In recent years, the sport has caught on in Asia and the Asian continent has now become the fastest growing region for dancesport activities. The inaugural Singapore Millenium Championships took place on 30 April 2000. Over the past 9 years, it has been very heartening to see the annual championships grow in scale, gaining increasing popular support and acknowledgement as a major event on the world dancesport calendar.
It is our hope that the Singapore Millennium Championships will continue to be one of the best organized dancesport championships in the region, with emphasis on top quality dancing and attracting one of the largest number of entries from all over the world, especially the European countries as well as Asian and local competitiors.
